Ø 3rd Xiwanbei Int’l Mathematics Contest will be held in 5 July 2008
(China, HongKong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Canada)
Ø Xiwanbei International Mathematics Contest has been registered as a non- profit organization in Hong Kong and overseas, and its logo patent has been obtained.
Ø In Chinese, ‘Xiwanbei’ literally means ‘Cup of Hope’.

Objectives : Through the contest, assist students to master major contents in their curricula and broaden their knowledge horizon, encourage them to apply mathematica
l knowledge in other disciplines and in their social activities, cultivate a strong interest in mathematics, and develop their cognitive, creative and execution competence.
Qualified participants:
Primary Section：: Students of P3 – P6 or equivalent (Four levels)
Secondary Section：: Students of F1 – F5 or equivalent (Five levels)
Tests : 5 July 2008 (Sat)
Primary Section ： 10：45 am – 11：45 noon (1 hr ); Full mark = 100; (Multiple Choice & Fill in the Blank)
Secondary Section： 14：00 pm – 16：00 pm (2 hrs); Full mark = 120; (Multiple Choice & Fill in the Blank)
Language option : When filling in the application form, students may
choose taking the contest either in English version or Chinese version.
Candidates attempting English version of the test should indicate so in the
application form or the use of the Chinese version will be assumed.
Venues :
Details of test venues will be sent to schools, education institutions, or students individually.
Application :
(1) Schools/ institutions to organize their students for group application.
(2) Individual students may join the contest as independent participants.

Fee : HK$80 per student ,
to cover necessary operation costs (production of test papers, invigilation, marking, prizes, and award ceremony, etc)
